This seems inaccurate to reality. First off, very few movies (if any) at the budget ever get a theatrical and normally go to home vid/dvd or tv. Second, experiienced EPs theoretically will get the star talent (or help) attached - or get you ni the door and as important, get the distribution deal (or help get it). Without those elements, the movie has no chance of ever making a profit or even getting a distribution deal. And more than likely these days (with the exception of family, friends and relatives) the investors want both talent and distribution in place. I suggest that you post the movies this study was made from. The fact is there are many movies that do not make it into the market place for these reasons. And currently if you do not have a star name, you won’t get anybody to look at it re: distribution - and those “names” have a much higher bar level than you might assume.
